The launching ceremony of the Tree Planting Program in Dong Thap province in 2024 has just taken place at the People's Committee of Binh Hang Tay commune, Cao Lanh district, Dong Thap.

The program had the participation of Mr. Huynh Minh Duong, Deputy Director of the Dong Thap Department of Agriculture and Rural Development; Mr. Huynh Thanh Son, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Cao Lanh district; along with leaders of departments, branches, and local governments and representatives of C.P. Vietnam Livestock Joint Stock Company (C.P. Vietnam), which is the sponsor for this activity.

At the ceremony, C.P. Vietnam has awarded symbolic plaques for sponsoring the green embankment project to protect land for 12 districts and cities in Dong Thap province. This year, the project continues to support the planting of 118,000 trees, including 51,655 scattered trees of all kinds and 66,670 cork trees, at 233 canal banks, river banks, and residential areas.

Accompanying the People's Committee of Dong Thap province, the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, and the Dong Thap Provincial Forest Protection Sub-Department, C.P. Vietnam has implemented a tree planting project in all districts and cities in the province since 2022, focusing on preventing landslides on river banks and canal banks to protect civil works, improve the ecological environment, and respond to climate change.

In the first phase, the project supported the planting of 115,000 cork trees along 107 river banks and canal banks at risk of landslides in the Cao Lanh, Lap Vo, Lai Vung, and Chau Thanh districts and Sa Dec city, with a total length of nearly 248 km. 

Mr. Huynh Minh Duong, Deputy Director of the Dong Thap Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, said that currently, green areas on canal banks, river banks, residential areas, and schools in the province are lacking. Through this launching ceremony, along with the cooperation with C.P. Vietnam, the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development hopes that all people will join hands and actively and regularly participate in planting trees to contribute to creating a green, clean, beautiful, safe environment, minimizing the impact of climate change, and protecting the natural environment and our living environment.

At the ceremony, Mr. Vo Ngoc Lam, Assistant to Deputy General Director of C.P. Vietnam and Southwestern Regional Processing Business Manager, shared that in Dong Thap province, C.P. Vietnam has business activities in the field of processing pigs, chickens, and ducks, cooperating with farmers to improve output quality and efficiency and increase people's income.

Mr. Lam emphasized: "C.P. Vietnam also pays special attention to community activities carried out in Dong Thap province, and 'C.P. Vietnam - Journey for a Green Vietnam,' with the goal of planting 1.5 million new trees in the 2021-2025 period and spreading from within the company to the community, is one of the company's passionate projects.

C.P. Vietnam is very happy that the project has come to Dong Thap province and can contribute to the greening work of the province. This also contributes to carbon neutrality, improving the living environment, and protecting the environment towards sustainable development, accompanying the Government of Vietnam in implementing the Net Zero commitment by 2050."
