Collecting garbages and Crown-of-thorns starfish in response to World Oceans Day

(VAN) In response to World Oceans Day on June 8, the coral protection group of Nhon Hai commune arranged scuba diving to collect garbage and crown-of-thorns starfish.

On the morning of June 8, in the western area of Hon Kho in Nhon Hai commune (Quy Nhon city, Binh Dinh), the coral protection team of Nhon Hai commune went out to collect garbage on the seabed and catch crown-of-thorns starfish, an animal that harms corals. The coral protection group of Nhon Hai commune, consisting of 7 members, led by Mr. Nguyen Ton Xuan Sang, used scuba diving equipment to dive into the sea and utilize nets to collect garbage and catch crown-of-thorns starfish.

These are activities within the framework of the project “Supporting Vietnam in implementing the 2017 Fisheries Law with initiatives from national to local levels”. The Centre for Marinelife Conservation and Community Development collaborated with the Binh Dinh Department of Fisheries and the Fisheries Resources Protection’s Community Organization in Nhon Hai Commune to hold these activities.
