Implement a series of activities to respond to International Day of Biodiversity (May 22) and World Environment Day (June 5), combined with the Action Program to Reduce Ocean Plastic Waste in the Ly Son marine protected area in order to prevent biodiversity loss, protect the environment, and protect biodiversity, recently, the Management Board of Ly Son Marine Protected Area launched a diving program to collect and treat manage ocean waste and dive to catch and destroy organisms harmful to coral reefs in the Conservation Area.

Accordingly, the Management Board of Ly Son Marine Protected Area has conducted diving to collect ocean waste and diving to catch and destroy harmful organisms at 3 coral reefs: South Go An Vinh reef, Lang beach, and Tro Hon beach in Ly Son Marine Protected Area with a total length of more than 300m.

The total volume of collection, classification and treatment of more than 116kg of marine waste, including: Ghost nets, belts, soft drink bottles, soft drink cans, beer cans, truck tires, fabric clothes, fishing line charges , laundry detergent bags, plastic tubes...

Besides, many agents harmful to coral reefs have been captured, destroyed and treated such as: spiny snails, Map Cowrie snails, crown-of-thorns starfish...

The Management Board of Ly Son Marine Protected Area hopes that fishermen, crew members on ships going to sea, tourists having fun and experiencing entertainment at sea, means of transporting goods and passengers at sea will be aware more about environmental protection issues in daily life, exploitation and fishing activities to protect the sea and island environment.
