Collaboration with Mongolia to organize a leather and handicrafts exhibition

On June 25, a delegation of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development led by Deputy Minister Tran Thanh Nam visited School No. 14 (named after President Ho Chi Minh) in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia.

Deputy Minister Tran Thanh Nam expressed his honor and pride to visit the school - which has trained many Mongolian generations of talents, and always preserves the cultural values ​​of the Mongolian and the Vietnamese, especially the image of President Ho Chi Minh, the great leader of the Vietnamese people. 

"We appreciate the precious values ​​that  two countries have cultivated, preserved and promoted for future generations. Thank you for preserving the image of President Ho Chi Minh and spreading Vietnamese culture for students" expressed the Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development.

Established in 1949, School No. 14 has the mission of being a bridge for the two countries, spreading cultural values and traditions of the countries and their people. In 1960, School No. 14 has collaborated with Chu Van An High School in Hanoi. In 1980, on the 90th anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh, the school was named after the great leader of the Vietnamese people

For the past 60 years, the school has trained many talents to contribute to the construction and defense of Mongolia including President P.Ochirbat, Prime Minister P.Amarjargal, Prime Minister S. Batbold among others.

In addition to training, School No. 14 is also active in the Mongolia - Vietnam Diplomatic Association. At the end of 2002, the school sent a delegation of teachers and students to visit and interact with Chu Van An school in Vietnam. During a visit to Mongolia in November 2008, President Nguyen Minh Triet visited the school and invited the university's delegation to visit Vietnam.

In April 2009, the Mongolia - Vietnam Diplomatic Association welcomed a group of 8 teachers from the school to visit and work in Vietnam, to discuss the construction of a statue in rememberance of Uncle Ho on campus. By the end of 2009, the statue of President Ho Chi Minh has completed.

Each year, the School has diplomatic activities with Vietnam, introduction of the achievements of the Fatherland of Vietnam, especially activities to introduce the life and career of President Ho Chi Minh.

In May 2017, in an official visit to Mongolia by Vice President Dang Thi Ngoc Thinh, the Vietnamese delegation donated 20 sets of computers and 2,000 USD to the school to serve the Vietnamese language classroom. 

In the immediate future, the school plans to construct a Vietnamese cultural center, equipped with a large outdoor screen for online presentations and exchanges. In addition, the school will annually organize  painting contest about Vietnam and its people.

Expressing gratitude at the welcoming of the largest school in Mongolia, Deputy Minister Tran Thanh Nam said that every year, the Vietnamese Government grants 3 scholarships to students who have finished their secondary school program.

On June 24, the delegation of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development worked with the Mongolia - Vietnam Diplomatic Association to inform about the contents and results of the delegation's activities in the past week.

With the goal of promoting people-to-people exchanges, cultural activities between the two countries as well as connect businesses, especially those specializing in handicrafts and leather goods, Deputy Minister Tran Thanh Nam committed to promptly organize a business exchange event between the two countries.

With the theme of tourism and agricultural products trade, the exhibition is expected to take place in October 2022. On behalf of the delegation, Deputy Minister Nam suggested that the Association connect interested businesses to Vietnam, with the goal of establishing a leather handicrafts promotional center. 

"We wish to organize more cultural and art exchange programs such as photography contests, contests to learn about the countries' cultures, art performances, etc on the occasion of national significant events, including the 70th anniversary of the diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Mongolia in 2024" said Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development.

Wishing to learn from Vietnam's experience, especially in agricultural development as well as socio-economic issues, the Chairman of the Association, Dr. Sonomish Dashtsevel promises to participate as a bridge for businesses of the two countries in promoting investment cooperation, cultural and art exchanges.

"To the best of its ability, the Association will support and help businesses understand the market and promote mutual investment cooperation. In addition, we will coordinate to organize thematic information seminars on economic cooperation and investment", said Dr. Dashtsevel.

On June 25, 1961, the first Vietnam-Mongolia diplomatic treaty was signed. On August 30, 1960, the Mongolia-Vietnam Diplomatic Association was established. A year later, on July 5, 1961, the Vietnam-Mongolia Diplomatic Association was also established, with the current chairman being Deputy Minister Tran Thanh Nam.

In response to the Mongolian recommendations, Deputy Minister Nam suggested that the two countries innovate economic promotion, exchange and cooperation activities in content and form going forward.

"We hope that the Mongolia - Vietnam Diplomatic Association will continue to promote its function as a bridge, providing information and consultation for Vietnamese and Mongolian businesses in finding partners to promote commercial activities, joint ventures, associations, investment cooperation, organize market surveys for businesses and members", concluded the Minister.
