Coffee prices on September 17, 2025, domestically and globally
According to Bloomberg, the recent surge above $ 4/lb was mainly due to speculative buying amid low liquidity. Ms. Laleska Moda from Hedgepoint Global Markets stated that speculative buying increased after Brazil’s August export data was released.
Although exports from Brazil declined, an even sharper drop was recorded in the US due to tariffs. Arabica inventories fell to their lowest level since April 2024, indicating a shortage of supply, while the rainy season is expected to return but may not be sufficient to restore soil moisture.
