According to Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers (VASEP), black tiger shrimp export to the EU in the first quarter increased by 107% over the same period last year, which is more than 2 times. In which, exports of live/fresh/frozen black tiger shrimp increased by 117%.
The main black tiger shrimp products exported to the EU include fresh frozen whole black tiger shrimp, frozen fresh PD black tiger shrimp, frozen fresh EZP headless black tiger shrimp, frozen fresh HLSO EZP headless black tiger shrimp, frozen fresh IQF black tiger shrimp, IQF steamed PDTO black tiger shrimp, frozen fresh HOSO black tiger shrimp, steamed frozen CPTO black tiger shrimp…
In the EU market, the wholesale and retail fields favor HLSO black tiger shrimp and peeled black tiger shrimp products, sizes 16/20 and 51/60, the recycling field is in high demand for HOSO and block peeled black tiger shrimp, sizes 16/20 and 51/60.
Suppliers of black tiger shrimp to the EU market include Vietnam, Bangladesh, Madagascar, Indonesia, India, Myanmar...The largest importers of black tiger shrimp in the EU are Germany, the Netherlands, Switzerland, Belgium, and France, respectively.
Vietnam is currently the second-largest supplier of black tiger shrimp to the EU market. Compared to other suppliers, Vietnam's black tiger shrimp has a competitive advantage thanks to tariff incentives from the EVFTA Agreement, fresh products and an increasing number of products achieving ASC certification.
