Environmental Crime Prevention Police Department C05 - Ministry of Public Security has just organized an inspection. The Department detected and arrested 16 vehicles illegally pumping sand and transporting sand of unknown origin on the Tien River, in the bordering water area of Cai Be district, Tien Giang province and Vinh Long, with an operating range of about 12km.

At the time of inspection, there were dozens of subjects on these vehicles residing from many different localities. Through inspection by authorities, each vehicle contains from a few dozen to a few hundred cubic meters of sand. It is worth mentioning that the subjects could not present documents proving the legality of exploiting and transporting the above sand. Many barges were caught red-handed by the task force while illegally pumping sand about 100m from the foot of My Thuan bridge.

This is a "hot spot" where sand pumping has not been completely prevented for a long time. The discovery and arrest of this group of "sand thieves" is the largest ever in the Mekong Delta.
