2024 Outlook of Vietnam's agricultural products for export

A series of promotional events for the Vietnamese coconut industry in China

(VAN) For the first time, the Vietnam Coconut Association is promoting cooperatives and businesses to participate in trade promotion in China, aiming to attract investment and develop the coconut industry.

On the occasion of the State visit to China by General Secretary and President To Lam on August 19, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development of Vietnam and the General Administration of Customs of China signed a protocol requiring phytosanitary measures for the export of fresh coconuts from Vietnam to China.

Facing the opportunity to open the door for fresh coconuts, the Vietnam Coconut Association said that it has implemented a plan to promote the Vietnamese coconut brand, introduce the potential and call for investment in the Vietnamese coconut industry to Chinese investors.

Cao Ba Dang Khoa, Vice President and General Secretary of the Vietnam Coconut Association said that the Association had introduced enterprises that produce, process, and export fruits, fruit products, and agricultural products, especially cooperatives, enterprises with deeply processed products and stable growing areas, to participate in trade promotion delegations organized by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development and the Ministry of Industry and Trade, to open up business cooperation opportunities between enterprises of the two countries Vietnam and China, and develop the Vietnamese coconut industry. For example, on September 24-29, 4 coconut enterprises under the Association with canned coconut water products, fresh coconuts, and some coconut products will join a delegation from the Trade Promotion Agency (Ministry of Industry and Trade) to participate in trade promotion in the field of e-commerce and digital commerce in Zhejiang and Jiangsu (China). "These are businesses with deeply processed products and stable growing areas. Therefore, participating in this trade promotion aims to expand the market in China through the digital environment, promoting the optimization of linkage chains and value chains of supplying goods to the Chinese market," said Khoa.

From September 24 to October 1, 3 enterprises under the Vietnam Coconut Association will join a working group from the Department of Quality, Processing and Market Development (Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development) to promote, advertise, and connect the trade of fruit and agricultural products in Nanning and Beijing (China).

"The delegation will work with relevant Chambers of Commerce, Associations, corporations and enterprises to promote the import and export of Vietnamese coconuts to the Chinese market," said Khoa, adding that the delegation will work with the Customs Department of Nanning, Guangxi and the China-ASEAN Economic and Trade Center. At the same time, they will attend, display, and introduce products and promote the brand of the Vietnamese coconut industry at the Fruit Festival in Beijing, China.

In particular, with the support of the Vietnam Trade Office in Guangzhou, the delegation of the Vietnam Coconut Association led by Ms. Nguyen Thi Kim Thanh, President of the Association, including coconut agricultural cooperatives from Ben Tre, Vinh Long, Tay Ninh and 11 enterprises producing, importing and exporting coconut, durian and various agricultural products will participate in the CIFBE International Fruit and Vegetable Food Fair in Guangzhou (September 25).

Here, Vietnamese agricultural enterprises and cooperatives have the opportunity to connect directly with the Jiangnan wholesale market, Guangzhou and food and fruit trading enterprises from Kunming, Guangdong, Guangxi, Hainan (China), along with large corporations such as Pagoda (fruit), Kafelaku (food, beverage, coffee), Kingold (supply chain).

On this occasion, the Vietnam Coconut Association will also sign memorandums of understanding with the Guangzhou Fruit Association on orientation for businesses to build growing areas to supply to members of the Guangzhou Fruit Association.

In addition, Ben Tre Import-Export Joint Stock Company (Betrimex), representing the Vietnam Coconut Association, signed an MOU with the Import Fruit Commerce Chamber in Jiangnan, Guangzhou market on investing in transparent, high-quality growing areas, building a brand foundation for the Vietnamese coconut industry in Jiangnan, Guangzhou market.

The Vietnam Coconut Association also agreed with the Hainan Coconut Industry Association on building a market information channel, representing the import and export support for the Vietnamese coconut industry in Hainan, China.

Betrimex, representing the Vietnam Coconut Association, signed an MOU with the Hainan Coconut Industry Association to participate in the chain of information on coconut prices in the Vietnamese market for Chinese traders and market prices of Chinese coconut products at each time for the Vietnamese business community.

"This cooperation aims to promote the formation of sustainable linkage chains for the Vietnamese and Chinese coconut business community towards a safe and transparent business environment," said Cao Ba Dang Khoa, Vice President and General Secretary of the Vietnam Coconut Association.
