A festival for lobster will be held in Phu Yen

(VAN) Song Cau town - the ‘capital of lobster’ in Phu Yen province, is planning to hold the first lobster festival on July 30 and 31.

The People's Committee of Song Cau town has recently held a press conference to announce the first Song Cau Lobster Festival in 2022. Accordingly, the lobster festival is expected to take place on July 30 and 31 in Xuan Dai Bay urban area (Xuan Phu ward).

The festival is held to “spark the fire” within the land as well as the aquaculture that has been developing for more than 30 years. The event aims toward building a strong and sustainable "capital of lobster" that has the capability to meet the needs of domestic and world markets after the Covid-19 pandemic.

According to the People's Committee of Song Cau town, the lobster festival will occur a series of activities such as the Ong welcome ceremony (a precious traditional custom of fishermen), the opening ceremony, and the pavilion - supply and demand connecting - trade signing exhibition with more than 50 stalls. There will be other activities such as the art kite flying festival and art performances with the title of "Song Cau Love" and "Song Cau - Naming a New Day". The Song Cau Lobster Logo Design Contest will be held along with the event in search of a lobster logo to promote local tourism activities. Moreover the Vietnam Guinness Record is going to confirm a record for “100 dishes made from Song Cau lobster” during this occasion.

The festival also organizes a seminar program concerning blockchain technology application and digital transformation in lobster farming. The seminars will be hosted by experts from Vietnam Blockchain Corporation.

It is known that in the first six months of 2022 Song Cau town has stocked about 48,695 cages of lobster and nursed about 14,000 cages of lobsters, reaching a total yield of approximately 630 tons. This figures has proven the strength of Phu Yen's "capital of lobster", ready to widen its arms for future opportunities.
