The participating products belong to five groups of commodity industries: rattan, bamboo, leaf; lacquer, pearl mosaic, fine-art wood; ceramics, glass; weaving, sewing, embroidery, crocheting; and other groups such as horn, mussel, snail, stone carving stations, etc. The requirement is that the participating product be a new product created and modeled by the author himself or herself or a group of authors themselves without any copies or winning a prize at other contests.
That is the content of the Hanoi Handicraft Product Contest 2023, which will take place from August to October 2023 and be organized by the Hanoi Department of Agriculture and Rural Development. The contest aims to preserve and develop traditional crafts, craft villages, and villages with crafts; preserve national cultural identity; and improve competitiveness in the market. In addition to prizes, organizations and individuals participating in the contest will receive advice, suggestions, and orientation on designs from industry-leading experts to complete their entries. The winning products will be displayed at the award ceremony, promoted in publications and media channels, and promoted at domestic and foreign trade promotion events.
The Hanoi Handicraft Product Contest 2023 is also a playground for authors to exchange and learn from each other's experiences to complete their products, know how to tell stories about their products and develop the domestic consumption market as well as export to demanding countries.
All organizations and individuals in Hanoi who have the ability to manufacture and produce handicraft products can be entitled to participate in the contest. The contest’s prize will be the basis for future proposals to recognize artisans. There are currently 806 craft villages and craft villages in Hanoi, of which 321 craft villages and traditional craft villages have been recognized and are located in nearly every district and town. Hanoi has 273 recognized craft villages and 48 recognized traditional craft villages out of a total of 321 craft villages and villages with traditional crafts. With a large number of craft villages, Hanoi's top priority is to connect raw material areas to assure a steady supply for the development of craft villages.

Faced with the increasing demands of visitors and the provisions of the law on consumer protection, the diversification and enhancement of the quality of the craft village's tourism products is essential and has always played a significant role in the development of craft villages in a sustainable manner.
To promote investment in craft village tourism, related units, departments, and sectors must coordinate with local authorities to invest in renovating and building infrastructure to foster handicraft production and craft village tourism.
Authorities of the city are planning for promoting the community at large on the advantages of craft village tourism. Create a cultural environment by encouraging locals to actively participate in activities to welcome tourists and to preserve and promote the traditional values of craft village products and local distinct culture. Earlier this week, Hanoi also implemented its One Commune One Product (OCOP) Program in order to develop numerous locally distinctive product categories, convert unbranded products into branded ones, and maintain its market leadership in both quantity and quality.
Hanoi intends to develop the first OCOP kiosk on the international market, particularly in Europe, in the near future. Hanoi will promote and develop OCOP development in conjunction with tourism development in craft villages so as to introduce its products to international peers.
