1,000 Pterocarpus trees were planted in Ta Kou

(VAN) Procter and Gamble Vietnam Co., Ltd. (P&G Vietnam) and Central Retail Vietnam recently organized a Reforestation Volunteering Day at Ta Kou Nature Reserve (Binh Thuan).

The activity is within the framework of the "Forests for Good - For You, a Green Vietnam" initiative, launched in 2023 to increase forest area while raising community awareness of the importance of environmental protection.

In the second year of organization, the reforestation volunteering journey has the participation of the Board of Directors and nearly 150 employees from the two companies, along with the companionship of Gaia Nature Conservation and brand ambassadors of P&G Vietnam's brands, such as Miss Universe Vietnam H'Hen Nie and actress Ninh Duong Lan Ngoc.

Ta Kou Nature Reserve is one of 221 important ecological regions in the world that need urgent conservation. However, this place still remains more than 100 hectares of degraded coastal forests and sand dunes that need to be restored.

With the goal of greening the bare sandy land and repelling desertification here, the Board of Directors and employees of P&G Vietnam and Central Retail Vietnam have planted more than 1,000 Pterocarpus trees.

This activity helps increase forest area and is expected to contribute to improving forest ecological values, minimizing the impact of climate change, while ensuring water sources for the community and rare animals living here.

Mr. Marwane Tahri, General Director of P&G Vietnam, said: "P&G Group has relentlessly pursued its commitment to creating positive impacts on the lives of Vietnamese consumers for more than 30 years. I am very proud of the efforts of P&G Vietnam and its partners in bringing sustainable values not only to the environment but also to the community."

Mr. Olivier Langlet, CEO of Central Retail Vietnam Group, affirmed that Central Retail Vietnam is always dedicated to the mission of becoming a pioneering Green & Sustainable retailer through efforts to implement practical activities in Vietnam.

The combination with partner P&G Vietnam to restore forests is the clearest proof of this commitment. Central Retail Vietnam believes that joining hands to protect the environment is not only a responsibility but also an opportunity to contribute to the Net Zero goal by 2050.

Maintaining this activity creates an opportunity to connect manufacturers, retail distributors, and consumers nationwide to join hands in building a green and sustainable future.

Since its launch in 2023, the "Forests For Good - For You, a Green Vietnam" initiative with the message of reforestation and protecting the Earth has received positive feedback from the community.

As of now, more than 14,000 forest trees are being planted in Xuan Lien forest areas (Xuan Lien Nature Reserve, Thanh Hoa), Ca Mau forest (Mui Ca Mau National Park), forests in the Dong Nai Culture and Nature Reserve, and most recently in the forest at Ta Kou Nature Reserve, contributing to restoring bare land areas and preventing desertification.

The program is an important step forward for P&G Vietnam and Central Retail Vietnam as pioneers in sustainable development activities in Vietnam.

Messages about the importance of forest protection will continue to be spread by businesses to encourage the community to join hands to protect the green color of Vietnam.
