The welcoming ceremony was attended by Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Le Minh Hoan, along with leaders of Ninh Binh Province and representatives from various bodies of the National Assembly, as well as the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment.
Xuan Thuy National Park was established to conserve the coastal estuarine wetland ecosystem - one of the ecosystems of exceptional biological, economic, and social significance. It serves as the core zone of the Red River Delta Biosphere Reserve and is also Viet Nam’s first Ramsar site. The park is home to rich biodiversity, hosting hundreds of waterbird species, including many rare, endangered, and globally significant species for conservation.
Xuan Thuy National Park recognized as ASEAN Heritage Park.
Located along the international migratory route of waterbirds within the East Asian - Australasian Flyway, Xuan Thuy National Park holds significance not only for Viet Nam but also plays an important role in the regional and global biodiversity conservation network.
In recent years, with the close guidance of authorities at all levels, the support of domestic and international organizations, and the active participation of local communities, the management, conservation, and sustainable use of natural resources at Xuan Thuy National Park have achieved many positive results.
Mangrove ecosystems have been gradually restored and developed, biodiversity has been effectively protected, and the livelihoods of buffer-zone communities have improved in an environmentally friendly manner. At the same time, public awareness of nature conservation has been increasingly enhanced.
The recognition of Xuan Thuy National Park as an ASEAN Heritage Park opens up new development opportunities while also placing greater responsibilities on conservation efforts and the promotion of its valuable natural assets.
This designation is a testament to sustained efforts over the years. It is also a source of honor and pride not only for Xuan Thuy National Park, but also for Ninh Binh Province and Viet Nam as a whole in the process of regional integration and cooperation on nature conservation and sustainable development.

In the coming period, Xuan Thuy National Park will continue to strengthen the effectiveness of management, protection, and restoration of wetland ecosystems, particularly mangrove forests, by promoting the active participation of stakeholders and local communities. The park will also prioritize the conservation of rare, endemic flora and fauna, as well as migratory bird species of global significance.
Efforts will be intensified in scientific research, biodiversity monitoring, and the application of climate change adaptation solutions. The park will promote sustainable ecotourism and environmental education, linking conservation with improved livelihoods for local communities. At the same time, it will expand international cooperation, share experiences, and actively engage in the ASEAN Heritage Parks network.
On this occasion, the leadership of the Xuan Thuy National Park Management Board expressed their sincere gratitude to central ministries and agencies; leaders of the Ninh Binh Provincial Party Committee, People’s Council, and People’s Committee; provincial departments and sectors; international organizations, research institutions, and both domestic and international partners; as well as local authorities and communities for their continued support and companionship over the years.
