'Viet Nam’s Seas – A Journey Through blue Spaces': Messages of environmental protection and marine conservation

On the evening of June 5, 2026, the artistic program “Viet Nam's Seas – A Journey Through Green Spaces” was held at Binh Minh Square and broadcast live on VTV1.

The event brought together artists from multiple generations, conveying the message that protecting the environment and safeguarding Viet Nam’s seas and islands are shared responsibilities of society as a whole.

Attending the program on behalf of the Party, State and Government leadership were Bui Thi Minh Hoai, Politburo Member, Secretary of the Party Central Committee and President of the Central Committee of the Viet Nam Fatherland Front; and Ho Quoc Dung, Member of the Party Central Committee and Deputy Prime Minister.

Also in attendance were Party Central Committee members, including Ha Thi Nga, Vice President and General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Viet Nam Fatherland Front; Le Thi Thuy, President of the Viet Nam Women's Union; and Bui Quang Huy, First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union, along with leaders of ministries, sectors and central agencies.

Representing the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment were Trinh Viet Hung, Member of the Party Central Committee and Minister of Agriculture and Environment; Deputy Ministers Le Cong Thanh and Dang Ngoc Diep; as well as leaders of the ministry’s specialized agencies.

Representing Nghe An Province were Nguyen Khac Than, Member of the Party Central Committee and Secretary of the Nghe An Provincial Party Committee; Vo Trong Hai, Chairman of the Nghe An Provincial People’s Committee; together with leaders of provincial departments and agencies, and leaders of all wards and communes across Nghe An Province.

Among the international guests were Khamphao Ernthavanh, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Lao People's Democratic Republic to Viet Nam; representatives of international organizations; along with distinguished delegates, guests and a large number of local residents.

The program featured performances by renowned artists, including Quoc Hung, Pham Thu Ha, Ho Trung Dung, Duyen Quynh, Bui Le Man, Viet Danh, Thanh Thao, Truong Phuc, Lan Thu and Hoang Hai.

Through performances centered on Viet Nam’s seas and islands, environmental protection and the nation’s aspiration to reach out to the ocean, the artists conveyed messages of sustainability, national pride and responsibility for safeguarding marine resources.

Speaking at the event, Trinh Viet Hung, Member of the Party Central Committee and Minister of Agriculture and Environment, said that the program was jointly organized by the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment, the Central Committee of the Viet Nam Fatherland Front and the People’s Committee of Nghe An Province.

The event formed part of a series of national activities in response to World Environment Day, World Ocean Day, the Month of Action for the Environment, Viet Nam Sea and Islands Week, and the launch of the emulation movement “All People Join Hands to Protect the Environment for a Green, Clean and Beautiful Viet Nam.”

According to Minister Trinh Viet Hung, World Environment Day and World Ocean Day provide an opportunity for nations around the world to reflect more deeply on their responsibilities and to take stronger action to protect the environment, safeguard the oceans and preserve a green planet for future generations.

The Minister emphasized that, under the Party's leadership, with the participation of the entire political system and the support of society as a whole, Viet Nam's environmental protection efforts have achieved significant results.

A number of major initiatives have been implemented in a coordinated manner, including the transition toward green growth, sustainable development, investment in clean energy, reduction of greenhouse gas emissions, restoration of natural ecosystems, reduction of plastic waste and protection of marine resources.

However, the green journey begins not only with major policies but also with simple actions taken in everyday life. Minister Trinh Viet Hung expressed his hope that the movement “All People Join Hands to Protect the Environment for a Green, Clean and Beautiful Viet Nam” will spread widely and become a shared awareness, habit and civic responsibility among all Vietnamese people.

Minister Trinh Viet Hung affirmed that the program serves as a meeting point connecting people with nature and linking small actions to meaningful benefits for a civilized, prosperous and environmentally friendly Viet Nam. It also serves as a reminder of the responsibility to preserve the green environment for present and future generations, in accordance with President Ho Chi Minh’s teachings on protecting nature and the living environment.
