Two cooperatives in Can Tho honored for innovation

Two cooperatives from Can Tho City have been recognized at the national “Innovative Cooperatives” competition, held as part of the seventh National Congress of the Vietnam Cooperative Alliance. The results are a testament to their efforts to innovate, apply science and technology, and improve the operational efficiency of the collective economy in the city.

According to the competition results, the OCOP Organic Fruit Cooperative in Can Tho City was among 10 outstanding cooperatives receiving the main awards. These models were highly rated for their initiatives in technology adoption, production organization, business efficiency, product quality improvement, and sustainable development.

The application of scientific and technical advances has helped the cooperative gradually improve productivity, control product quality, meet market requirements, and increase the value of agricultural products. This approach is also aligned with the development of modern agriculture, linking production with quality standards, traceability, and brand building.

Meanwhile, the Ky Nhu Cooperative in Can Tho City received the Women's Thematic Award. The award recognizes cooperatives led by women or with women playing key roles that operate efficiently, create jobs, increase members' incomes, and make positive contributions to their communities.

Through its operations, Ky Nhu Cooperative has helped promote the role of women in developing the collective economy, creating opportunities for members to participate more deeply in management, production organization, and market expansion. The model also demonstrates the effectiveness of linking cooperative activities with job creation, improving members' livelihoods, and promoting local economic development.

The competition was organized as part of the seventh National Congress of the Vietnam Cooperative Alliance, held on August 24 and 25. The organizing committee selected 10 outstanding cooperatives for the main awards and three models for the Women's Thematic Award.

The honored models not only demonstrate the dynamic and innovative spirit of cooperatives but also reflect a broader shift in production and business activities. Technology adoption, product quality improvement, brand building, market expansion, and greater participation by members are among the key factors helping cooperatives strengthen their competitiveness.

The recognition of two Can Tho cooperatives highlights the effectiveness of innovation in the collective economy. It also provides motivation for cooperatives to further promote science and technology, improve production processes, enhance product quality, expand markets, and strengthen their competitiveness in the coming period.

The results are also expected to help spread effective approaches and encourage cooperatives across Can Tho City to proactively innovate their operating methods, strengthen linkages, improve members' incomes, and make greater contributions to the city's socioeconomic development.

According to the 2025 PII (Provincial Innovation Index) results, Can Tho City scored 46.21 points, ranking first in the Mekong Delta region and tenth out of 34 provinces and cities nationwide. The city also ranked among the leaders in pillars such as institutions, knowledge and technology outputs, and creativity, thereby demonstrating its effectiveness in fostering an innovation ecosystem and transforming scientific and technological outcomes into drivers of socio-economic development.
