Currently, Thai Nguyen Province has 1,329 cooperatives with more than 47,000 members and workers, along with 5,263 cooperative groups with over 77,000 members. In the first six months of 2026 alone, the province established 35 new cooperatives and cooperative groups.

According to the Thai Nguyen Cooperative Alliance, more than 65% of cooperatives in the province are operating effectively, while the collective economy model continues to affirm its important role in local economic development.
Average revenue for each cooperative group reaches VND 1-1.2 billion/year, while members’ average income stands at VND 65-70 million/person/year.
For cooperatives, workers in the agricultural sector earn around VND 4-4.5 million/person/month, while those in non-agricultural cooperatives earn VND 5-5.5 million/person/month. Tea-producing and tea-processing cooperatives continue to lead in operational efficiency, with average monthly incomes of VND 9-10 million/person/month.

In Thai Nguyen, known as Vietnam’s tea capital, tea cooperatives account for an overwhelming share of agricultural cooperatives. Several names such as Hao Dat Tea Cooperative, La Bang Tea Cooperative, Thai Nguyen Green Tea Cooperative, and An Van Tra Cooperative have built nationwide brands.
Thai Nguyen is famous for its “four great tea specialties,” including Tan Cuong tea, La Bang tea, Trai Cai tea, and Khe Coc tea. After the merger, the new Thai Nguyen Province also includes the long-established Bang Phuc Shan Tuyet tea area.
In recent years, agricultural cooperatives in Thai Nguyen have continued to affirm their pioneering role in rural economic development. They have contributed to rapid growth in the number and quality of OCOP products. To date, the province has 598 OCOP products rated from 3 to 5 stars, including 13 products rated 5 stars. The economic value of products increases by more than 20% after achieving OCOP certification.
Thai Nguyen aims to have 675 OCOP products rated 3 stars or higher by 2030, including at least 15 products rated 5 stars.
