The South Korean Embassy in Vietnam has just announced the country will continue to undertake strict inspection measures on powder products containing noni fruit ingredients imported from Vietnam in 2021. The reason for such imposition is due to continuous standard violations discovered during the previous tightening inspection process.
Accordingly, the inspection is applied to powder products with a noni fruit content of 50% or more. Test criteria: metal contamination.
The time to conduct inspection measures is from December 24, 2020 to December 23, 2021.
Requirements of inspection: Declaration of products imported into Korea must include a test certification from one of the testing units designated by the South Korean Ministry of Food and Drug Safety (MFDS).
Previously, in the period of December 24, 2009-December 23, 2020, Vietnam's powder products with noni fruit ingredients of 50% or more were subject to strict inspection on metal contamination by South Korea. Similar products imported from India, Indonesia, Peru, and the United States were also bear to this regulation.
Besides Vietnam, noni powder products imported from Indonesia continue to be put under strict inspection by South Korean authorities during the period from December 24, 2020 to December 23, 2021.
Meanwhile, products of the same type from India, the US and Peru, are no longer subject to the new inspection regulations when being imported into South Korea.
