In the global market, prices of this commodity continued to show mixed movements.

At the time of survey, the RSS3 price on the Tokyo Commodity Exchange (Tokyo) for April 2026 delivery dropped by 6.8 yen (equivalent to 1.8%), to 363.2 yen/kg.

Global rubber prices today inched up slightly in Thailand and China, while the market in Japan reversed and declined sharply as investors assessed the impact of the Iran conflict on demand, despite continued support from oil prices and tight physical supply.

According to Farah Miller, CEO of Helixtap Technologies, prices fluctuated slightly as consumers and producers weighed the impact of the Iran conflict on demand while monitoring transportation costs.

Spot market trading activity remained subdued, while rubber producers were unwilling to lower prices due to limited supply.

In Thailand, key export rubber prices such as RSS3 and block rubber increased due to seasonal factors as rubber trees enter the leaf-shedding period. Meanwhile, oil prices rose by more than 2% amid concerns over supply disruptions, as the Strait of Hormuz was largely closed and U.S. allies rejected proposals to deploy warships to protect oil tankers.

In addition, several butadiene rubber production plants have had to cut output or temporarily shut down for maintenance due to shortages of input materials, as many refineries in Asia reduced capacity or declared force majeure.

This has led to increased demand shifting toward natural rubber, thereby supporting prices of this commodity, according to a trader in Singapore.

Thus, global rubber prices on 18/03/2026 continued to fluctuate in mixed directions compared to the previous day.
