Global rubber prices moved in mixed directions.
At the time of the survey, the September 2026 RSS3 contract on the Tokyo Commodity Exchange (TOCOM) surged by ¥6.3, or 1.39%, to ¥460/kg.
Meanwhile, Thailand’s September 2026 rubber futures edged down by THB 0.2, or 0.24%, to THB 82/kg.
In China, the September 2026 rubber contract gained CNY 170, or 0.97%, to CNY 17,680/ton.
Global rubber prices declined in Thailand but rose strongly in Japan and China amid concerns that prolonged rainfall in major growing areas across Southeast Asia could disrupt supplies.
On the Osaka Exchange (OSE), the February rubber contract gained ¥ 7.8, or 1.79%, to ¥ 444.4/kg. On the Shanghai Futures Exchange (SHFE), the January contract rose by 1.62% to CNY 18,795/ton, while the October butadiene rubber contract increased by 2.24% to CNY 14,355/ton.
According to Shanghai Zhongqi Futures, rainy weather in producing regions of China and Thailand could continue to disrupt tapping activities and slow the arrival of new supplies. Thailand, the world’s largest rubber producer, has warned of heavy rain and flash flood risks from August 29 to September 1.
Latest domestic and global rubber prices on August 28, 2026
In addition to adverse weather, exports from major producing countries have also shown signs of decline. Qinrex reported that Vietnam’s exports of natural and mixed rubber fell by 8.3% year on year to 815,000 tons in the first seven months. Shipments to China alone decreased by 14% to 547,000 tons.
Thailand also recorded a 2.1% decline in rubber exports to 2.52 million tons. However, Tianfeng Futures said there was not yet sufficient evidence to conclude that supplies had entered a clear downward trend. Strong domestic tire demand is believed to be diverting some of Vietnam’s rubber supplies away from exports.
Vietnam’s exports of semi-steel radial tires surged by 31.9% during the seven-month period. In Singapore, the November rubber contract on SICOM gained 1% to 232.8 US cents/kg.
Thus, global rubber prices moved in mixed directions on August 28, 2026, compared with the previous day.
