On the global market, rubber prices showed signs of rebounding.
At the time of the survey, the September 2026 RSS3 contract on the Tokyo Commodity Exchange (TOCOM) jumped by ¥ 15.1, or 3.49%, to ¥ 447.5/kg.
Meanwhile, Thailand’s September 2026 rubber futures remained unchanged at THB 88.1/kg. In China, the September 2026 contract edged up by CNY 95, or 0.56%, to CNY 17,025/ton.
Global rubber prices remained stable in Thailand today, edged up slightly in China and surged in Japan.
The Japanese market climbed sharply as oil prices rose amid concerns over supplies from the Middle East. However, gains were limited by persistently weak demand from China’s domestic automotive industry. China is currently the world’s largest rubber consumer, with tire manufacturing playing a key role in raw material demand.
On the Osaka Exchange, the January rubber contract rose by ¥ 3, or 0.71%, to ¥ 426 ($ 2.67)/kg. Meanwhile, on the Shanghai Futures Exchange, the September butadiene rubber contract gained 2.36% to CNY 13,420/ton. The Osaka market was previously closed for a public holiday on August 11.
Latest domestic and global rubber prices today, August 13, 2026
Oil prices rose as prospects for a peace agreement between the US and Iran remained uncertain, while attacks on two vessels heightened concerns over potential supply disruptions in the Middle East. Natural rubber prices often move in tandem with crude oil because they compete with synthetic rubber, which is produced from petroleum.
In China, the automotive market continued to weigh on the outlook for rubber demand. According to the China Passenger Car Association, domestic vehicle sales in July fell by 21.1% year-on-year to 1.47 million units, marking the 10th consecutive month of decline.
By contrast, exports surged by 88.2% to 923,000 vehicles as manufacturers accelerated their expansion into overseas markets. This indicates that domestic purchasing demand remained weak despite strong export growth. On SICOM, the October rubber contract closed at 220.5 US cents/kg, up 0.3%.
Thus, global rubber prices recovered today, August 13, 2026, compared with yesterday.
