At present, businesses in the Mekong Delta are stepping up the purchase of raw pangasius for export processing, preparing goods for the 2022 Lunar New Year. This contributes to an increase in raw pangasius prices.

In the Mekong Delta, provinces with large pangasius farming areas such as An Giang, Dong Thap provinces, and Can Tho City are entering the harvest season for export markets at the end of the year. Raw pangasius prices now are from VND 23,000 - 23,500 per kilogram (with 0.9-1.2-kilogram/head sizes)

These prices increased by about VND 500 per kilogram compared to the previous month, helping farmers profit. Usually, the farming cost for 1 kilogram of commercial pangasius must be from VND 22,000 -23,000 per kilogram. The selling prices must be higher than these levels; farmers can profit.

According to Mr. Nguyen Thanh Binh, Director of Chau Thanh Seafood Production and Service Cooperative (Chau Thanh District, Dong Thap Province), the slight increase in raw pangasius prices compared to the previous month is the consumer market. This product has many signs of improvement, in which the demands of China, the US, the EU, Southeast Asia... began to have more orders from businesses in the Mekong Delta.

Besides, the Covid-19 epidemic is gradually being controlled, pangasius exports are operating stably, so the volume of goods at pangasius processing enterprises is back to sharp consumption.
