Globally, pepper prices on May 29 are seeing a sharp decline in Vietnam’s export pepper segment.
Accordingly, the price of black pepper Lampung in Indonesia slightly decreased by 0.27%, down to $7,427/ton. Meanwhile, the price of white pepper Muntok fell by 0.3%, to the level of $10,125/ton.
The price of black pepper Kuching ASTA from Malaysia is at $9,150/ton; while white pepper ASTA from this country is currently priced at $11,850/ton.
In the Brazilian market, black pepper ASTA 570 is traded at around $6,650/ton.
In Vietnam, export black pepper with a density of 500 g/l is traded at $6,500/ton (a drop of 3.08%); while the 550 g/l type is at $6,600/ton (down 3.03%). Meanwhile, export white pepper is priced at $9,700/ton.
Global pepper prices today remain steady in Malaysia and for Brazilian black pepper, but drop sharply for Vietnam’s export pepper and slightly in Indonesia.
The Vietnam Pepper and Spice Association (VPSA) forecasts that pepper exports will continue to face challenges due to high prices and financial pressures. To sustain exports, businesses need to strengthen their presence in the EU, India, and Middle East markets, while also investing in deep processing and brand development.
Thus, global pepper prices on May 29, 2025, have dropped sharply compared to the previous day.
In Vietnam, domestic pepper prices on May 29 remained unchanged from the previous day.
