Aiming to realize the goals set out in provincial resolutions while strengthening environmental protection, green landscape development, and sustainable tourism, the Mang Den Commune People’s Committee (Quang Ngai) has issued Plan No. 94/KH-UBND on implementing the “One million trees for a greener Mang Den” program for the 2026-2030 period.
Under the plan, Mang Den strives to plant around one million trees during 2026-2030, equivalent to approximately 1,000 ha. In 2026 alone, the locality targets planting over 180,000 trees, or 180 ha. From 2027 to 2030, this commune will plant an average of 205,000 trees, equivalent to 205 ha annually.

The program is intended to raise awareness and responsibility among authorities, communities and residents regarding forest development and tree planting, identifying this as a shared task of the entire political system, organizations, households, and individuals. Through the program, the role of trees in socio-economic development, environmental protection, landscape improvement, and climate change mitigation will be further promoted.
Tree planting activities will take place on both non-forestry land and land designated for forestry use. In non-forestry areas, the locality will focus on planting landscape trees in urban areas, residential zones, along roads, at government offices, schools, healthcare facilities, agricultural production areas, riverbanks, irrigation corridors, and landslide-prone areas.
On forestry-designated land, Mang Den will promote new forest planting on barren land, mainly with Khasi pine trees. The locality will also develop economically and ecologically valuable species such as doi trees for seeds (Michelia tonkinensis A. Chev), cinnamon, litsea glutinosa, timber trees, and other multi-purpose species suitable to local natural conditions.
The People’s Committee of Mang Den requires tree-planting activities to follow proper seasonal schedules and to prioritize species suited to local climate and soil conditions, especially native species, timber trees, multi-purpose trees, and species with high protective value and cultural significance. Authorities also emphasized the principle of “every planted tree must survive,” ensuring long-term growth and effectiveness through proper care, management, and protection.
Mang Den strives to plant around one million trees during 2026-2030, equivalent to approximately 1,000 ha.
At the same time, the locality will strengthen communication campaigns to effectively implement the program. The goal is to encourage residents to participate in tree planting and forest protection, review available land resources, proactively prepare seedlings and technical support, and mobilize funding from state budgets, businesses, organizations, and local communities.
The “One million trees for a greener Mang Den” program is expected to help restore barren land, improve environmental quality, create a distinctive ecological landscape, and gradually develop Mang Den into a green eco-tourism and resort destination with rapid and sustainable growth.
Previously, on April 24, at its second session, the People’s Council of Quang Ngai province approved a resolution to convert forest land use purposes for the implementation of the Urban Area No. 1 project in Mang Den commune. The project covers more than 264 ha with a total investment exceeding VND 6.64 trillion.
According to Proposal No. 121/TTr-UBND dated April 23, 2026, submitted by the Quang Ngai People’s Committee, Sun World Holding Limited Liability Company will invest in the project. The implementation is expected to be during 2025-2034. It is planned as a sports and comprehensive healthcare urban area combined with green modern living spaces.
The project will include a wide range of integrated facilities, such as sports and fitness centers, physical activity parks, outdoor training spaces, and a healthcare ecosystem featuring hospitals, rehabilitation centers, nursing care facilities, and high-end resorts, serving both residents and visitors.
Under the approved resolution, nearly 83 ha of production forest land in subzones 487 and 488 in Mang Den commune will be converted. Most of the area consists of planted Khasi pine forests currently managed by Kon Plong Forestry Single Member Co., Ltd. and the Mang Den Commune People’s Committee.
The Quang Ngai People’s Committee stated that the proposed conversion area is production forest land and does not affect forestry land targets approved through 2030. The project is also consistent with national forestry planning, provincial planning, and land-use planning.
Regarding environmental issues, the project has completed a preliminary environmental impact assessment in accordance with the 2020 Law on Environmental Protection and related regulations. The investor has also committed to carrying out compensatory afforestation for the converted forest area.
