OCOP fair expands market opportunities for Dien Bien's farm products

From June 12 to 21, the 2026 Dien Bien Trade Promotion and OCOP Fair is being held, attracting large numbers of local residents, visitors, producers, and businesses. The event also reflects the province's continued efforts to strengthen regional economic linkages and encourage greater participation from both the public and private sectors. Organized under Plan No. 4612/KH-UBND dated June 4, 2026, issued by the Dien Bien Provincial People's Committee, the event has become a highlight of the province's trade promotion activities.

Featuring more than 200 exhibition booths and the participation of over 150 traders, enterprises, cooperatives, OCOP producers, and trade promotion organizations from both within and outside Dien Bien Province, the fair showcases a wide range of OCOP products, regional agricultural specialties, outstanding rural industrial products, and high-quality consumer goods. The diverse exhibition space offers participants valuable opportunities to showcase their products, connect with potential partners, and expand their market reach.

A highlight of this year's fair is the participation of communes and wards across Dien Bien Province, showcasing a wide range of products that reflect their distinctive local identities. From agricultural produce to signature OCOP products, each exhibition booth highlights the production strengths and unique characteristics of its respective locality. The displays also help preserve traditional production values while introducing local innovations to a broader audience.

Many of the featured products are built on indigenous agricultural advantages, supported by local raw material areas and production processes that increasingly emphasize quality. Promoting these products not only enhances the value of local agricultural goods but also reinforces the province's commitment to green, sustainable agricultural development rooted in each region's strengths.

In addition to exhibitors from Dien Bien Province, the fair has attracted numerous enterprises and cooperatives from Quang Ninh, Phu Tho, Lai Chau, Thanh Hoa, Dong Thap, Tay Ninh, and many other localities nationwide. The diversity of products offers consumers a wider range of choices while creating greater opportunities for business networking and trade cooperation among enterprises, cooperatives, and OCOP producers.

Pham Tien Dung, Chief of Office of the Dien Bien Department of Industry and Trade, said: "The fair is a practical initiative to stimulate consumer demand, promote the circulation of goods, expand markets for local products, and support enterprises and cooperatives in developing their production and business activities. It is also one of the key measures to bring OCOP products and local agricultural specialties closer to consumers."

Supporting the event are exhibition booths from the Department of Industry and Trade, the Department of Agriculture and Environment, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the Dien Bien Cooperative Alliance, and commercial banks including Agribank, BIDV, and VietinBank. By introducing products, financial services, digital banking, and cashless payment solutions, these organizations have enabled businesses and cooperatives to access a wider range of tools and services to support their operations.

One of the fair's major attractions is the exhibition area on the identification of authentic and counterfeit products, organized by the Market Surveillance Authority. The initiative helps consumers distinguish genuine goods from counterfeit products, thereby protecting consumer rights and contributing to a healthier business environment.

At a time when consumers are placing increasing emphasis on product quality and traceability, trade promotion activities are playing an increasingly important role in connecting producers with the market. Beyond expanding sales channels for agricultural products and OCOP goods, the fair also provides producers with opportunities to build their brands, enhance product value, and gradually strengthen their market position.
