Nearly 300 participants join Green Journey Along the Han River

Recently, the Da Nang People's Committee and the Embassy of Denmark in Viet Nam jointly held the opening ceremony of the “Da Nang - Copenhagen: Green Journey Along the Han River” event at APEC Park. The program attracted nearly 300 delegates, residents, pupils, students, and advocates of sustainable living, helping spread messages of sustainable urban development and community responsibility.

A highlight of the event was a public exhibition on sustainable urban living, featuring 18 photographs showcasing key aspects of Copenhagen’s sustainable urban planning, people-centered design, and commitment to improving quality of life.

Guided by Mr. Pham Anh Tu, Vice Rector of Da Nang Architecture University, the exhibition also offered insights into the architectural concepts and cultural values behind the featured works. Alongside the Copenhagen-themed display, the exhibition showcased perspectives on Da Nang as a peaceful coastal city, highlighting its dynamic development and strong focus on tourism.

The event concluded with a community cycling program involving around 300 participants, including representatives from the Da Nang People's Committee and municipal departments; the Embassy of Denmark in Vietnam; Danish companies operating in Central Vietnam; students from local universities and Hope School; and residents from across the city.

The cycling route passed several of Da Nang’s iconic landmarks, including the Dragon Bridge and the Museum of Cham Sculpture, while also offering views of other notable structures such as Tran Thi Ly Bridge and Han River Bridge.

Mr. Tran Chi Cuong, Vice Chairman of the Da Nang People's Committee, affirmed that Denmark is one of Viet Nam’s key partners in promoting sustainable development, green growth, and the energy transition. For Da Nang, cooperation with Danish partners has provided valuable experience and practical insights.

In particular, Copenhagen’s advanced development models have served as an important reference, helping the city refine its policies and enhance the quality of urban development in a modern, sustainable, and people-centered manner.

“Copenhagen and Da Nang are both dynamic coastal port cities that share ambitions for green development, people-centered urban planning, and bicycle-friendly environments. We are proud to be among the first international partners to join the people of Da Nang in cycling across the Han River.

With this strong spirit of cooperation, I am confident that the relationship between Denmark and Da Nang will continue to grow, advancing the green transition, sustainable urban development, innovation, and stronger people-to-people connections in the years ahead,” said Nicolai Prytz, Ambassador of Denmark to Viet Nam.

The event further reaffirmed the shared commitment of Viet Nam and Denmark to promoting greener, more sustainable, and more livable cities. With the support of Danish companies operating in Central Viet Nam, including Carlsberg and APM Terminals, the program also reflected the growing role of the private sector in advancing Viet Nam’s green transition.
