Launch of Food Safety Portal to enhance comprehensive social transparency

As this issue directly affects public health and social trust, establishing a unified digital information system is expected to overcome fragmented data and improve management efficiency, creating more convenient conditions for citizens to participate in monitoring.

The portal provides complete and timely information on directives and administration; inspection results and the handling of violations; lists of compliant and non-compliant establishments; and warnings and recommendations for citizens and businesses.

It also serves to receive, process, and publicly disclose citizen feedback. Instead of one-way communication, people can submit reports on food safety violations, track progress on handling, and access response results on the same platform.

Through this, a closed process is formed, from receiving information through to classification, handling, response, and public disclosure, contributing to improved transparency and accountability in state management.

Speaking at the launch ceremony, Vice Chairwoman of the Hanoi People’s Committee Vu Thu Ha affirmed that the development and operation of the Food Safety Portal aims to concretize the requirement for public disclosure and transparency in a field directly related to people’s health.

According to Vu Thu Ha, Hanoi identifies that complex issues such as food safety require the participation of the entire political system, businesses, and citizens. The city is implementing various solutions to build a capital that is “friendly - hospitable - comprehensively safe,” with food safety as a key pillar.

The portal will publicize directives, inspection results, and the handling of violations, while also recognizing and disseminating good practices, creating a basis for society to monitor and respond to violations through transparent information.

Emphasizing the role of communication, the Vice Chairwoman suggested that each delegate attending the event serve as a “channel of dissemination,” helping raise awareness and promote action within the community.

With the launch of the Food Safety Portal to enhance comprehensive social transparency, the city also calls on organizations, individuals, and businesses in the food sector to proactively disclose origin, documentation, and food safety assurance conditions. Units that are transparent and comply well will be supported and introduced on the portal, thereby enhancing their reputation and building consumer trust.

Recognizing the efforts of the implementing units, especially the Department of Culture and Sports, the Vice Chairwoman expressed her expectation that the portal will operate effectively, serving as a practical tool to protect the health of every family and the community and to build a safer, more civilized capital.

Not only providing information, but the portal is also expected to become a data connection platform among management agencies from the city to the grassroots level, helping to carry out inspection, monitoring, and the handling of violations more quickly and accurately. In the long term, the system can integrate additional functions such as data analysis, risk forecasting, and early warning, thereby supporting authorities in proactively preventing risks.

At the same time, citizen participation in reporting and monitoring also helps foster a culture of safe consumption, creating positive pressure on businesses to take greater responsibility and comply with regulations. When information is transparent and easily accessible, social trust in the food market will gradually and sustainably strengthen.
