In response to the International Day for Biological Diversity (May 22) launched by the United Nations with the theme "Local Action for Global Impact", Lao Cai province has issued a directive for departments, branches, mass organizations, and localities to synchronously implement practical activities to raise awareness and promote actions for nature and biodiversity conservation.
This is a crucial occasion to affirm the role of biodiversity in sustainable development, while calling for whole-of-society participation in achieving the goals of the National Biodiversity Strategy and the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework.

Accordingly, Lao Cai province requires enhanced propaganda on mass media regarding the meaning and message of the 2026 International Day for Biological Diversity. Agencies and units will proactively organize activities such as meetings, thematic seminars, talks, exhibitions and knowledge competitions to disseminate the Party's guidelines and the State's legal policies on the conservation and sustainable use of biodiversity. Simultaneously, organizations and individuals with effective initiatives and models in nature conservation will be honored.

Localities are launching environmental protection and nature conservation movements suitable to practical conditions. They are encouraging communities, businesses, and socio-political organizations to participate in specific activities such as planting trees, protecting forests, building sustainable livelihood models, rationally utilizing natural resources and adapting to climate change.
Lao Cai province also emphasizes boosting the application of science and technology, digital transformation, and nature-based solutions in biodiversity management and conservation. Functional agencies will strengthen multi-stakeholder cooperation, encouraging organizations and individuals to sign and implement voluntary commitments to nature protection.

In parallel, the inspection and supervision of the enforcement of biodiversity policies and laws will continue to be strengthened, especially the implementation of new regulations in the agricultural and environmental sectors. Acts of illegal resource exploitation, trafficking and consumption of wild flora and fauna will be strictly prevented and handled.
