On May 22, in Lam Dong province, the Department of Cooperatives and Rural Development, in coordination with the Lam Dong Department of Agriculture and Environment, organized a workshop titled "Promoting Investment in Research, Design, and Manufacturing of Machinery and Equipment for Agricultural Production."
Attending the workshop were Mr. Vu Van Tien, Deputy Director General of the Department of Cooperatives and Rural Development; Mr. Le Quang Dan, Deputy Director of the Lam Dong Department of Agriculture and Environment; along with representatives from research institutes, universities, mechanical enterprises, agricultural cooperatives, credit institutions, and local authorities.
According to Mr. Vu Van Tien, Deputy Director General of the Department of Cooperatives and Rural Development, mechanization is becoming a key driver for the development of modern agriculture, helping improve labor productivity, reduce production costs, and increase the value of agricultural products. Therefore, investment in the research, design, and manufacturing of agricultural machinery not only meets immediate demands but also contributes to building a domestic agricultural machinery industry with sustainable development.
Many domestic enterprises have proactively researched and manufactured several types of machinery serving agricultural production. However, to meet the increasingly high requirements of modern production, it is necessary to further promote technological innovation, improve product quality, and strengthen linkages between enterprises and research institutions.

Drawing from local realities, Mr. Le Quang Dan, Deputy Director of the Lam Dong Department of Agriculture and Environment, said that demand for mechanization and automation in agricultural production across the province is growing steadily. However, many existing machines are not yet suitable for small-scale farming conditions, hilly terrain, and unsynchronized in-field infrastructure.
"This requires the research and manufacture of compact, multifunctional agricultural machines tailored to each ecological zone and the actual production needs of farmers," Mr. Dan emphasized.
At the workshop, delegates focused discussions on trends in agricultural machinery development, market demand, and solutions to promote investment in the coming period. Many delegates proposed completing support mechanisms for research and technological innovation while strengthening linkages among enterprises, research institutes, universities, and local authorities in the research, manufacturing, and transfer of machinery and equipment serving agricultural production.
According to delegates, developing the agricultural mechanical engineering industry in a modern direction, aligned with domestic production conditions, will help promote synchronized mechanization, improve productivity and production efficiency, and enhance the competitiveness of Vietnamese agricultural products.
