Hong Thai Shan Tuyet tea recognized as 5-star OCOP product

(VAN) The Hong Thai Shan Tuyet tea product from Tuyen Quang Province has been officially recognized by the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment as a national 5-star OCOP product.

This product is developed by Son Tra Cooperative in Hong Thai Commune. The area is home to ancient Shan Tuyet tea trees growing at elevations above 1,000 meters above sea level, with a year-round cool climate that provides ideal conditions for tea plants to thrive and develop their distinctive flavors.

Hong Thai Shan Tuyet tea is known for its delicate aroma, mild astringency, and long-lasting sweet aftertaste, earning high appreciation from consumers. In recent years, Son Tra Cooperative has focused on developing the product along organic lines, investing in modern equipment such as Taiwanese tea roasting machines, rolling machines, sieving machines, and vacuum packaging systems. At the same time, the cooperative has partnered with local farmers to follow a “three-no” standard: no use of crop protection chemicals, no artificial flavoring or additives, and no inorganic fertilizers.

Currently, Son Tra Cooperative manages 64 hectares of Shan Tuyet tea in Hong Thai Commune, including 29 hectares of ancient tea trees that are hundreds of years old and 35 hectares of tea plants over 20 years old.

To date, Tuyen Quang Province has three products recognized as national 5-star OCOP products: Hong Thai Shan Tuyet tea from Son Tra Cooperative, and 100g green tea and 100g black tea from Phin Ho Tea Processing Cooperative in Thong Nguyen Commune.
