Gia Lai targets over US$ 17 bln in export turnover

The Gia Lai Provincial People's Committee has just issued a Plan to implement the Program "Reaching International Markets in the 2026-2030 Period" (GoGlobal) with the target of taking the province's total export turnover during this period to over 17 billion USD.

To realize this target, Gia Lai Province will focus on elevating governance capability, competitive capacity, and the ability to meet international market standards and regulations for enterprises, cooperatives, and production/business establishments. Simultaneously, it will step up trade promotion, diversify markets and partners, and step-by-step bring local primary products deeper into regional and global supply and value chains.

One of the notable targets is that by 2030, a minimum of 1,000 turns of enterprises, cooperatives, and production/business establishments will participate in training programs on international economic integration, import-export, e-commerce, cross-border digital trade, and digital transformation.

The province strives to support a minimum of 100 turns of enterprises and cooperatives to participate in trade promotion, investment promotion, fairs, exhibitions, trade matching, and domestic and foreign market survey activities. Concurrently, it will organize or coordinate the organization of at least 3 conferences, forums, trade matching programs, and investment promotions to publicize potential and advantages, connecting provincial enterprises with importers, investors, trade promotion organizations, and international partners.

The province will support enterprises to participate in a minimum of 3 overseas trade fairs, exhibitions, or trade promotion programs to advertise products and brands and expand export markets. Notably, 100% of primary export enterprises with needs will access and receive updated information regarding markets, trade policies, technical standards, regulations, and international market rules through state agency information channels and enterprise support programs.

For agricultural product groups, Gia Lai identifies building concentrated, stable, and sustainable raw material zones linked with primary products as a central task. Enterprises and cooperatives will receive support to build raw material areas fulfilling processing and export requirements; apply standards such as VietGAP, GlobalGAP, organic, and international standards; and strengthen electronic traceability and management of growing area codes, farming area codes, and packaging facility codes.

Along with production, Gia Lai emphasizes developing agricultural logistics, preliminary processing systems, packaging, cold storage, and post-harvest preservation. Digital solutions such as AI, IoT, GIS, and Blockchain are also oriented for application in raw material zone management, traceability, and supply chain connections serving export.

Faced with demanding international market requirements, enterprises will receive support to fulfill standards regarding green development, circular economy, emission reduction, food safety, and traceability. These include the European Union Deforestation Regulation (EUDR) and technical regulations of individual import markets.

According to the plan, the Provincial People's Committee assigned the Department of Industry and Trade as the focal agency to chair and advise the plan's execution; guide, urge, inspect implementation, and synthesize results to report to the Provincial People's Committee and the Ministry of Industry and Trade.
