Dong Thap Lotus Festival 2026 attracts over 500,000 visitors

On the evening of June 21, in Cao Lanh Ward, Dong Thap Province, the closing art program of the 3rd Dong Thap Lotus Festival 2026, themed "Pink Lotus Land - Reaching New Heights," brought to a close four vibrant days, leaving a positive impression on local residents and visitors.

This year’s festival, held under the theme "Come and Listen to Lotus Stories," was not only a distinctive cultural and tourism event but also an opportunity to showcase the economic, cultural, and human values of Dong Thap. According to the Organizing Committee, the festival welcomed approximately 500,000 visitors who came to visit, shop, experience, and participate in activities held throughout the event.

According to Mr. Bui Quoc Nam, Chairman of the Cao Lanh Ward People's Committee, the 3rd Dong Thap Lotus Festival 2026 concluded with resounding success, exceeding expectations and leaving many positive impressions.

"Looking back on the series of activities, we take great pride in the festival's ability to attract large numbers of local residents and visitors from both within and outside the province. The diverse activities, meaningful exchanges, and strong community engagement helped create a festival that was rich in local identity and memorable for participants," shared Mr. Bui Quoc Nam.

Within the festival framework, a wide range of featured activities were organized, including exhibition spaces for the lotus industry, OCOP products, and regional specialties with the participation of 126 units and enterprises from Dong Thap province and other localities; the thematic seminar entitled “From the Lotus Industry to the Lotus Economic Ecosystem”; and a lotus culinary space featuring professional chefs from the Saigontourist Group system.

In addition, cultural and experiential activities such as the Lotus Art Road, the Lotus Ao Dai Parade, artistic hot-air balloon performances, trekking tours exploring Tan Thuan Dong Islet, and the book launch and exchange program "Every Profession, A Flower," along with numerous community activities, generated strong interest among visitors.

In particular, the opening ceremony was carefully staged with numerous highlights, such as the announcement of the “Dong Thap” geographical indication for lotus products and the establishment of a Viet Nam Record for the artistic portrait work recreating the historical scene "Nguyen Tat Thanh and his father Nguyen Sinh Sac Before Dawn (1911)."

According to the Organizing Committee, the event also marked significant progress in digital communications, with thousands of videos, photos, and articles shared across social media platforms, helping promote the image of Dong Thap to audiences both at home and abroad.

Dong Thap currently has around 1,800 hectares of lotus growing, with more than 100 food and cosmetic products derived from lotus and nearly 60 OCOP products rated 3-4 stars. The annual production value of the lotus industry exceeds VND 1 trillion, gradually shaping a lotus-based economic ecosystem that integrates tourism, culture, and green growth.

As the festival season comes to a close, the image of pink lotus blossoms, together with the warmth and hospitality of Dong Thap people, continues to leave positive impressions on visitors, raising new expectations for the development of the lotus industry into a distinctive economic and cultural symbol of the locality in the years ahead.

According to the Organizing Committee, the success of the festival is not only measured by the number of attendees but also reflected in the solidarity of local people. Images of streets filled with lotus colors, friendly smiles of people, and the enthusiasm of volunteers and service forces have contributed to creating a "festival in the hearts of the people," imbued with the cultural identity of Dong Thap.

The Chairman of Cao Lanh Ward People's Committee Bui Quoc Nam emphasized that the locality will continue to innovate organizational work, improve service quality, and promote cultural, tourism and economic values from lotus trees. He also expressed his wish that each citizen will become an "ambassador" to promote the image of their homeland, and continue to spread beautiful stories about the Pink Lotus Land.
