Dong Nai’s comprehensive green transition roadmap to 2050

This roadmap was outlined in the city’s Carbon Reduction Plan for 2021–2030, with a vision to 2050 (Net Zero Plan), introduced in 2024.

The plan focuses on achieving net-zero emissions by mid-century through transformation across seven key sectors: energy, transport, industry, environment, agriculture and forestry combined with land use, construction materials, and urban development.

Industry - Dong Nai’s economic backbone - is undergoing significant “greening”. Since early 2026, the province has been implementing plans to convert existing industrial parks into green, eco-industrial zones. This includes upgrading infrastructure, adopting clean technologies, expanding renewable energy use, and promoting circular economy models. At the same time, Dong Nai is shifting from labor-intensive manufacturing toward high-tech industries to enhance global competitiveness.

In agriculture and forestry, with over 370,000 hectares of forest and extensive agricultural land, the province is accelerating high-tech farming and developing concentrated production zones. Large-scale projects incorporating advanced technologies, waste reuse, and renewable energy are being deployed to both reduce emissions and increase the value of agricultural products.

For urban development, Dong Nai is adopting an ecological model that is resilient to climate change while leveraging strategic infrastructure such as Long Thanh International Airport. New urban areas are designed to prioritize green spaces, energy efficiency, eco-friendly materials, and smart infrastructure, thereby enhancing quality of life while reducing emissions.

Major enterprises are strongly backing Dong Nai’s green development direction and are actively aligning their investments with emission reduction goals. KN Holdings is developing three large-scale green and smart industrial parks, focusing on high-tech industries and renewable energy integration. Meanwhile, Novaland is building a more than 1,000-hectare riverside eco-urban area designed for harmony with nature and sustainable living.

In the energy sector, Nhon Trach 3 and 4 power plants have entered commercial operation, adding significant capacity to the national grid, strengthening energy security, and supporting the transition toward cleaner energy sources.

These projects not only expand energy supply and cut emissions but also attract investment, boost supporting industries and services, and accelerate economic restructuring toward a greener, more sustainable model. Net Zero is therefore positioned as a long-term strategy, offering Dong Nai a pathway to enhance competitiveness and emerge as a national model for green development.
