Dak Lak launches ‘30 days and nights’ campaign to digitize durian data

On August 7, the Dak Lak Provincial People's Committee held a conference to announce the launch of the "Digital Map of Agricultural Products, OCOP Products, and Village Tourism on Dak Lak Province's Digital Platform," and officially kicked off an intensive "30 days and nights" campaign to digitize, standardize, update, and connect data on production per unit codes and durian packing facilities.

The conference was chaired by Nguyen Thien Van, Vice Chairman of the Dak Lak Provincial People's Committee, with participation from representatives of specialized agencies under the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment; the Departments of Agriculture and Environment of Dak Lak, Dong Thap, Lam Dong, and Gia Lai provinces; and a large number of local businesses and cooperatives.

The launch of the digital map marks an important step forward in modernizing Dak Lak's agriculture sector, not only enabling synchronized, transparent management of raw-material growing areas but also creating a visual promotional platform that effectively connects supply and demand for the province's key products and rural tourism offerings.

In his opening remarks, Vice Chairman Nguyen Thien Van stressed that amid the rapid pace of digital transformation, applying technology to standardize data and enhance the value of agricultural products has become essential. Dak Lak enjoys major advantages in soil and climate and takes pride in its status as the "capital" of high-value export goods such as coffee and durian. However, given the increasingly strict international market standards on transparency, the local agriculture sector has no choice but to undergo a decisive transformation.

To address the core challenges of managing raw-material growing areas, facilitating trade connections, and raising the added value of agricultural products, the Provincial People's Committee directed the Department of Agriculture and Environment to take the lead, coordinating with relevant units to build the digital map on schedule, underscoring the province's political determination to elevate the standing of its local agricultural products.

Alongside the launch of the digital map, the Dak Lak Provincial People's Committee also launched the intensive "30 days and nights" campaign, concentrating all resources on digitizing, standardizing, updating, and connecting all data on durian production per unit codes and packing facilities to the province's Agricultural Product Traceability System. This is regarded as an urgent "call to action" to protect the Dak Lak durian brand and meet the stringent requirements of consumer markets, particularly official export channels.

To ensure the campaign achieves maximum effectiveness, provincial leaders have designated the Department of Agriculture and Environment as the driving force, working closely with commune and ward authorities, industry associations, and businesses to continuously review and update data to ensure accuracy and consistency. This coordinated start is expected to generate fresh momentum, helping Dak Lak's agricultural products secure a solid standing on the domestic and international agricultural map.

According to the Chairman of the People's Committee of Dak Lak province, Do Huu Huy, the announcement of the Digital Map and the launch of a high-intensity campaign to digitize data, standardize, update, and connect data on durian growing area codes and packaging facilities are two strategically important and urgent tasks in the context of the locality promoting the application of science, technology, and digital transformation in accordance with Resolution No. 57 of the Politburo, while proactively standardizing data for the durian industry before the 2026 harvest season.

From a market development perspective, Mr. Do Huu Huy believes that technology plays a direct role as a bridge among producers, businesses, distributors, consumers, and tourists. When information about origin, quality, production area, or processing facility is transparently available on digital platforms, products will have greater opportunities to access markets, while also laying the foundation for promoting digital transformation in agriculture, trade, and tourism towards a modern, efficient, and sustainable direction.

The Chairman of the People's Committee of Dak Lak province stated that if data and planting area codes are not strictly managed, there is a risk of warnings, suspension, or complete revocation of the codes. This would directly affect not only businesses but also the locality's reputation and producers. Therefore, standardizing data is not simply a technical or administrative requirement but a solution for protecting the brand of Dak Lak agricultural products in the export market.
