The People’s Committee of Da Nang city has issued Decision No. 1169/QD-UBND approving the scheme “Development of organic agriculture for 2026 - 2030, with orientation toward 2035.” The total budget for this scheme is expected to be VND 500 billion (approximately USD 19 million).
The project aims to build an organic agricultural sector with high added value, sustainability, and environmental friendliness while adapting to climate change. It also seeks to link production with processing, domestic consumption, and exports, thereby improving income and livelihoods for local people.

By 2030, the city targets organic agricultural land to reach 2.5 - 3% of the total agricultural area (approximately 2,485 hectares), focusing on key crops such as rice, beans, and vegetables, fruit trees, and industrial crops, including tea, pepper, and areca. The city will prioritize the development of Ngoc Linh ginseng and other advantageous medicinal plants. Production areas following the organic direction will cover 529.5 hectares. Organic livestock products are expected to account for 2 - 3%, with added value 1.5 - 1.8 times higher than products made from conventional methods.
By 2035, Da Nang plans to increase organic agricultural land to 3.5 - 4% (2,554.5 hectares), while the area of medicinal plants meeting good agricultural practice standards will reach 688.35 hectares. Organic livestock products are expected to account for 3 - 4% (438,860 animals), and organic aquaculture will cover 1.5 - 3% of total farm area (approximately 206 hectares and 91 marine cages).
One thing to note is that the city aims to develop at least 10 key organic agricultural products under the brand “Da Nang Organic Agriculture,” while forming at least 16 organic agriculture models associated with experiential tourism and ecological education.
To achieve these goals, the scheme outlines a range of integrated solutions, such as developing concentrated organic production areas associated with rural tourism, investing in technical infrastructure, strengthening production–consumption linkages, promoting research and technological application, enhancing state management efficiency, building brands, promoting trade and certification, training human resources, and improving supportive policy mechanisms.

Of the total VND 500 billion budget, the state is expected to contribute VND 150 billion (30%), while the remaining VND 350 billion (70%) will be mobilized from socialized funding sources.
According to the Da Nang Department of Agriculture and Environment, the locality has favorable climatic and soil conditions for various crops, especially in midland and mountainous areas that are less affected by urbanization and industrialization. This advantage holds significant importance in developing ecological buffer zones and facilitating the transition toward organic and VietGAP-oriented agricultural production, ensuring food safety and sustainable development.
To date, the total area of crops certified under VietGAP in the city has exceeded 570 hectares, including 29.7 hectares of industrial crops, 81.4 hectares of fruit trees, and 459.8 hectares of annual crops. The city also has 27.7 hectares of vegetables certified as meeting food safety conditions.
In recent years, the Da Nang Department of Agriculture and Environment has directed specialized agencies to coordinate with local authorities to strengthen communication and technical training, raising awareness and capacity for safe production among farmers and cooperatives. These efforts aim to promote VietGAP-based agriculture in particular and organic and food safety standards in general.
Da Nang has invested in technical infrastructure and gradually built sustainable value chains linking production, processing, and consumption through stronger connections between enterprises, supermarkets, and standardized production areas. This city is demonstrating strong determination to shift toward a green agricultural model, enhance product value, and move toward sustainable development in the near future.

The People’s Committee of Da Nang city has also issued Plan No. 155/KH-UBND to implement the project on low-emission crop production for the 2025 - 2035 period, with a vision to 2050.
This is considered a strategic step to restructure the crop cultivation sector toward climate change adaptation, increasing added value, and moving toward an ecological, modern, and sustainable agricultural system.
Under the plan, by 2035, the city’s crop production sector is expected to help reduce at least 15% of total greenhouse gas emissions compared to 2020. At the same time, Da Nang aims to establish at least two pilot models of low-emission crop production as a basis for wider replication.
