C.P. Vietnam and opportunities for processed poultry products in RoK

Within the framework of the recent working program between Vietnam’s Ministry of Agriculture and Environment and the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs of the Republic of Korea, Minister Trinh Viet Hung and Minister Song Miryung signed a Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation in the field of veterinary services and animal quarantine. Through this agreement, the two sides officially announced the opening of the market for processed poultry products between the two countries.

This result is not only significant in terms of trade but also shows that both sides are gradually strengthening coordination mechanisms in quarantine, quality monitoring, and the completion of technical requirements for animal-origin products. In the context of increasingly stringent import standards in global markets, the establishment of a clear cooperation framework between the two countries’ regulatory agencies is considered an important foundation for expanding opportunities for businesses.

Pawalit Ua-Amornwanit, CEO of C.P. Vietnam, noted that the opening of the South Korean market to Vietnam’s processed poultry products carries positive significance for the entire industry. According to him, this is the outcome of international integration efforts and also reflects the improved capacity of Vietnamese enterprises in production, processing, and compliance with technical standards.

The C.P. Vietnam representative expressed appreciation to the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment, particularly specialized agencies such as the Department of Animal Health and Production for accompanying enterprises in approaching technical requirements, completing documentation, and meeting conditions related to quarantine, food safety, and market access. Pawalit Ua-Amornwanit said that Vietnam’s processed chicken products gaining access to the Korean market will help enhance the position of the country’s livestock and food processing industry globally.

As a large-scale enterprise in livestock and food production, C.P. Vietnam currently operates the CPV Food Binh Phuoc integrated poultry production and export complex. The project, with a total investment of around USD 250 million, is developed under a Feed-Farm-Food value chain model, including feed mills, hatcheries, farms, slaughterhouses, and processing plants. This integrated system enables synchronized control from input to output, improving traceability, disease control, and food safety standards.

From this integrated production base, CPV Food Binh Phuoc has supplied processed poultry products to several markets including Japan, Hong Kong, Singapore, Russia, and Mongolia. Experience in meeting international market requirements is considered a key advantage for the enterprise to further enhance its production and processing capabilities, and adapt to increasingly stringent import standards.

According to Pawalit Ua-Amornwanit, the business community expects to continue working closely with regulatory authorities to improve product quality and strictly comply with quarantine regulations and technical standards of importing markets. This is also a necessary condition for Vietnam’s livestock and food processing sector to gradually expand markets, increase export value, and develop in a more sustainable direction.

The opening of the South Korean market to Vietnam’s processed poultry products is expected to create further momentum for domestic enterprises to invest more strongly in value-added processing, standardize production processes, and enhance competitiveness. In the long term, with closer coordination between regulatory agencies and businesses, Vietnam’s poultry industry will have more opportunities to participate more deeply in the global food value chain.
