Global coffee prices today recorded mixed movements on international exchanges. Robusta extended its rally for the seventh consecutive session amid concerns over the risk of a strong El Niño, while arabica declined under pressure from the U.S. dollar rising to its highest level in 13 months.

On the London exchange, July 2026 robusta futures rose by another 0.14% ($ 5/ton) from the previous session to $ 3,685/ton. The September 2026 contract increased by 0.19% ($ 7/ton), reaching $ 3,629/ton.

On the New York exchange, July 2026 arabica futures reversed lower, falling 0.99% (2.75 US cents/lb) to 275.1 US cents/lb. The September 2026 contract dropped 1.52% (4.1 US cents/lb) to 267.8 US cents/lb.

Global coffee prices closed the session mixed. Arabica weakened after the U.S. Dollar Index (DXY) rose to its highest level in 13 months, triggering profit-taking and liquidation of long positions in the futures market.

Arabica’s rally cooled after weather agency Climatempo forecast dry conditions across most of Brazil’s main coffee-growing regions next week, easing concerns over harvest disruptions.

In contrast, September robusta futures continued rising for the seventh consecutive session, with total gains of nearly $ 400/ton, reaching their highest level since early March. The main driver was concern that El Niño could develop into a very strong event, often referred to as a “super El Niño.”

El Niño is particularly unfavorable for robusta coffee because it usually causes higher temperatures and lower rainfall in Vietnam and Indonesia, the two countries that produce around 50% of global robusta output.

For arabica coffee, El Niño initially tends to bring heavy rainfall to Brazil, the world’s largest arabica producer. While excessive rain can slow harvesting progress, it would only push prices higher if it significantly damages bean quality or triggers fungal diseases in coffee trees.

Brazil’s 2026 coffee harvest is progressing significantly slower than in recent years, clearly reflecting the impact of unusual weather. Cooxupé, the country’s largest coffee cooperative, said farmers had harvested only 15.8% of expected output as of June 14, the lowest level in four years. The main reason was unseasonal rainfall linked to El Niño, which disrupted harvesting in many key regions.

However, analysis firms such as GSZ Commodities said Brazil’s overall crop size has not shown clear signs of decline. Current pressure mainly lies in harvest progress and bean quality, while record supply expectations continue to act as a price “anchor,” limiting the possibility of a sharp rally in futures markets.

Thus, global coffee prices on June 19, 2026 recorded mixed movements across major exchanges compared with the previous day.
