Global coffee prices rose sharply to a one-week high amid concerns that prolonged rainfall in Brazil could delay coffee harvesting.

ICE-certified coffee inventories have been trending lower for more than two and a half months, supporting prices. ICE-certified arabica stocks fell to 402,709 bags on June 10, the lowest level in 6.5 months.

ICE-certified robusta inventories dropped to a two-year low of 3,631 lots on May 15. Although stocks later edged up to 3,713 lots on June 11, they remained near historically low levels.

However, the market’s focus remains on Brazil’s coffee harvest progress, as the country is expected to deliver a record crop.

Brazil’s statistics agency IBGE forecasts the country’s coffee production will reach a record high of 66.8 million bags.
