Can Tho promotes OCOP products through digital platforms

(VAN) Can Tho is accelerating digital transformation for OCOP producers, helping them strengthen brand visibility, expand market access, and enhance the competitiveness of their products through digital platforms.

Advancing digital technologies to promote agricultural products

On June 10, the Can Tho Department of Agriculture and Environment, in collaboration with BADO Software Solutions and Services Co., Ltd., held a training conference on digital transformation, digital skills, and the promotion of OCOP products through digital platforms for OCOP producers, cooperatives, businesses, and household producers across the city.

According to Quach Thi Thanh Binh, Deputy Director of the Can Tho Department of Agriculture and Environment, digital transformation is reshaping every aspect of socioeconomic development. For OCOP products, it involves far more than simply moving sales online. It includes standardizing product information, building strong brands, telling compelling product stories, expanding market access, managing customer data, and improving overall business performance.

Today's consumers increasingly research, compare, and make purchasing decisions through digital platforms. Strengthening the digital capabilities of OCOP producers has therefore become essential to ensure that local products are not only high in quality but also widely recognized, trusted by consumers, and more competitive in the marketplace.

Huynh Thi Ngoc Dung, Deputy Head of the Can Tho Sub-Department of Quality Management, Processing and Market Development, noted that the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment has launched a 2025-2030 program to strengthen the promotion of agricultural and environmental products through the application of advanced technologies, emerging technologies, and digital transformation.

Under the 2030 targets, at least 70% of high-tech and innovation-driven agricultural products are expected to meet both domestic and international standards while featuring established brand identities and digital traceability systems. All branding and trade promotion activities will be digitized, with advanced technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI), Big Data, and blockchain deployed to enhance promotional effectiveness.

In addition, around 70% of businesses, cooperatives, and household producers in the agriculture and environment sectors are expected to participate in training programs on brand development, brand management, and digital product promotion.

To turn these goals into reality, Can Tho has introduced a series of e-commerce development plans for the 2026-2030 period. The city's agriculture and environment sector is focusing on helping businesses adopt digital technologies such as QR codes, NFC chips, and blockchain for product traceability, while also strengthening online branding and expanding product promotion and sales through digital platforms.

Building digital skills to succeed in the online marketplace

At the conference, Hong Minh Dam, Marketing Team Leader at BADO Software Solutions and Services Co., Ltd., shared practical insights on digital transformation for OCOP producers across the Mekong Delta.

Consumer behavior has changed significantly in recent years. Many buyers now watch short videos on TikTok or Instagram Reels, gather information on Facebook, compare prices on e-commerce platforms, and make a purchase decision only then.

Against this backdrop, OCOP producers should focus on selecting sales channels that best match their products and available resources, rather than trying to maintain a presence across too many digital platforms at once.

In particular, Video Commerce and Livestream Commerce are emerging as highly effective tools for reaching customers. Promotional content should focus on telling the product's story, demonstrating its production process and quality, and engaging directly with consumers to build trust and strengthen market confidence.

In addition to online sales skills, OCOP producers also received guidance on calculating costs for e-commerce platforms, managing revenue and customer data, and complying with regulations on taxation, personal data protection, and food safety to minimize business risks.

By strengthening digital capabilities, enhancing brand development, and expanding sales channels through online platforms, Can Tho's OCOP products are expected to increase their value and reach consumers more effectively in both domestic and international markets, contributing to the modernization and sustainable development of the rural economy.
