9 wild animals released back into nature

(VAN) Among the nine wild animals released, several belong to endangered, precious, and rare forest species that are prioritized for strict protection under the law.

Speaking with VAN News on March 5, a representative of the Dak Lak Centre for Elephant Conservation, Animal Rescue, and Forest Protection Management said the center has recently coordinated with Chu Yang Sin National Park and forest ranger units in Krong Bong, Buon Don, and Buon Ma Thuot to release nine wild animals back into their natural habitat.

Among the nine wild animals released into the forest were three pig-tailed macaques, two elongated tortoises, one keeled box turtle, one Malayan snail-eating turtle, one pygmy slow loris, and one pangolin.

Notably, pygmy slow loris and pangolin individuals are classified as Group IB – endangered, precious, and rare forest species prioritized for strict protection under the law.

After a period of rescue, care, and rehabilitation to restore their natural behaviors, the animals that met the required conditions were returned to their natural habitats, where they belong.

According to the Dak Lak Centre for Elephant Conservation, Animal Rescue and Forest Protection Management, releasing wild animals back into their natural environment not only contributes to biodiversity conservation but also spreads a strong message about protecting wildlife and saying no to the illegal hunting and trade of wild animals.
